Although it seems like ancient history now, we kicked off 2020 with a council and parish sponsored St. Valentine’s Day dance/social featuring the Moore Brothers Band. The event was well received and attended by our parish family and many members of the local community.
During Lent, we ran a “40 Cans For Lent” food collection program to benefit the Philipsburg Food Bank at Community Action. As a substitution for our parish Fall Fest (which was cancelled due to COVID), we also ran a Fall Food Drive which spanned the fall and winter seasons culminating with Christmas. Both programs collected a combined total of 2,357 pounds of food and $500 in monetary donations in support of the food bank.
On October 10th, we supported a community Rosary Rally which was held in the Philipsburg Park.
Council-sponsored American Red Cross blood drives were held in July, October, and December which collectively produced 122 units of blood.
In September, our council officially donated our supply of brand-new winter coats to the local YMCA as part of the Knights of Columbus “Coats For Kids” program. We presented 14 insulated coats ranging in sizes from S to XL to the Director who accepted them with the intent to distribute them via the YMCA Christmas giving program.
Thanks to Deacon Jerry, we conducted a “Keep Christ In Christmas” campaign which involved our Knights providing the parish with gift magnets professing the “Keep Christ in Christmas” message.
All of these initiatives resulted in at least 61 hours of volunteer service offered by our brothers.
This is amazing , especially during a year that restricted our ability to interact with each other in so many ways. Well done, Brothers!
